Tri - M Music Honor Society
The Tri-M Music Honor Society is an international program dedicated to the recognition of exceptional music students in grades 6-12 who meet the music, academic, leadership, and character criteria asked of every Tri-M member. Tri-M is a program of MENC: The National Association for Music Education, which is the largest arts education association in the world. Each year, the music faculty and the chapter advisor of Tri-M Music Honor Society Chapter at River Hill High School select candidates for Tri-M student membership who have shown a desire to help the music program or have a history of involvement above and beyond the minimum requirements of their music group. To become a member of the RHHS Tri-M Music Honor Society, a candidate must fill out and return an acceptance form and application fee. This form should be returned to the student’s director and will be given to the chapter advisor for approval and confirmation, at which time the student will become a member. Once achieving Tri-M membership, each student is expected to volunteer at Tri-M events and continue to meet the Tri-M criteria, or membership will lapse until those standards are once again met. Each candidate for student membership is instructed in the aims, purposes, and programs of the honor society. Tri-M is primarily a service organization, with members assisting faculty members and boosters at after school and evening events such as fundraisers and concerts. After completing the acceptance form, the candidate will be inducted into the honor society as a new member at a formal membership presentation ceremony to which family and friends will be invited. At that time, official Tri-M membership cards, pins, and certificates will be presented to our members.
