Jazz Ensembles

The Jazz Ensemble/Jazz Lab are comprised of the most versatile and talented musicians from the larger concert groups.  Membership is by competitive audition. 

Performances (mandatory attendance):  winter concert, Maryland Jazz Festival (Ensemble only), East Coast Jazz Festival (Ensemble only), Spring Concert, Spring Adjudication trip, and school assemblies/community outreach.

The following instruments are included:

    Standard:  Alto Saxophone, Tenor Saxophone, Baritone Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, Piano, Guitar, Bass, Drum Set, Auxiliary Percussion, and Vibraphone.

    Optional:  Piccolo/Flute, Clarinet, Baritone/Euphonium, Tuba, and Vocalist.

    There is a great need for versatility in this ensemble, especially in the woodwinds.  Students who can double on saxophone, clarinet, and flute are always welcome additions.

The Jazz Combos are select groups of musicians from the Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Lab who exemplify the best in improvisation, sight-reading, and small group performance.  Rehearsals ar held after school or in the evenings.  Members must be enrolled in Jazz Ensemble or Jazz Lab. Performance are TBD
